Another Fine Mess.

Imagine this;
You are driving along the road in your car and a policeman signals you to stop. He is performing random safety checks on vehicles.
That’s alright; you know that your car is in good working order. Or at least that is what you think… After inspecting your vehicle, the police officer finds a small bulge in the side of one of your tyres. Oh, dear. That wasn’t there earlier…
You are written a ticket and given a fixed penalty. But, here is the best bit; on top of the penalty is an extra surcharge of £15 to go towards the victims of domestic violence and sex attacks.
Well, this is what the British Government are planning to bring into power. Not only that, they also want it to be implemented as quickly as possible. It is funny how new laws can actually come into power very quickly… if it involves the Government making a few quid, isn’t it? If it is a law that is important to society with no financial gain then it seems to be a different matter altogether.
Isn’t this all a little unfair? Why is it that the ordinary man (or woman) should have to make an involuntary donation to the victims of serious crimes? If you are a rapist or a wife-beater then it is quite right that you should be punished (and it should be a damn sight more than a £15 charge) but when your greatest crime is a minor motoring offence or a parking violation it is completely ridiculous.
Once again the British Government is providing us with a brilliant example of just how out of touch they are with the country. Motorists are already being fleeced by oil companies and are having to pay ridiculous amounts of car tax without this new ‘stealth tax’ being piled onto them as well.
Mind you, if you remember that the men who come up with all of these ludicrous ideas live in a different world to the rest of us then it is actually not so hard to understand. They earn so much money that they spend what we earn in a week on a bottle of wine to go with their lunch.
One last thing because I feel that I should say something good as well, I have just found a really informative blog on Enigin PLC. It has all sorts of great energy saving proposals and campaigns, and some pretty amusing posts as well! If you get totally depressed with everything going on in the world, it may cheer you up a little bit!
