Do-It-Your-Self-Defence.
You can see this story from two very different perspectives.
When you are being burgled you must have the right to defend both yourself and those around you. But you can also go too far… I am sure that the guy hit around the head deserved a good hiding, but it seems over the top to hit him so hard with a cricket bat that it breaks into three pieces.
Don’t get me wrong; I am not totally condemning Mr Hussain’s actions. Even though the intruders had left his property I still think that he was right to chase them. After all, even if the police had turned up in record time, the intruders would have been long gone. And I disagree with the judge when he said they were ‘no longer a danger to anyone’. These three men had just tied up Mr. Hussain’s family and robbed them; they would have posed a threat to anyone who got in their way. After all, they do not sound like the sort of people you would invite round for tea and biscuits.
The law in Britain really is an ass. When it comes to defending your home there are several conflicting laws. We need clear guidelines that tell us what is or is not acceptable. It seems to be an incredibly grey area in the legal system and it is vital that things are clarified. What exactly is ‘reasonable force’? British people need to know exactly what they can do. It is totally unacceptable for someone be able to break into your house and walk away with everything you have worked for. British law should concentrate on this and have definite laws in place.
And there is another factor to consider; does anyone know how they will react unless they actually find themselves in this awful situation? If someone ties-up your family and ransacks your house then your emotions are going to play a huge part. How would you act in the heat of the moment? You are not going to be worrying about your rights; your main concern will be yourself, your family and your possessions.
As a sidebar: how does a val thorens accommodation online contest sound to everyone? Everyone should really enter, this would be such a cool way way to spend a bit of the winter! Plus all the snow has melted in London now, we need to find somewhere with the white stuff for a little bit of boarding!
